I've broken valve springs three different times now on my '95. The motor was built about 20k miles ago by Rippie. Rippie used Manly valve springs and thinks I got a bad batch. What else could cause this failure. The car is not driven too hard and all failures happened coasting at about 1700 RPM down the highway.

I would switch to the comp cams bee hive springs ,or go back to the stock ones.
Usually coil bind is the problem but you say 1700 rpm's ?

If its this many times, I would have to suspect that something else in the valvetrain is F'd up. Was everything in the valvetrain redone and what cam did you put in it?

Don't know what I've got for a cam. It has a nice lope at idle. It's whatever Rippie used on his 400 HP package.

have you called Rippie and asked for advice?
You should check your spring pressures.
This happened to me using K Motion springs in a Brand X car.
What was happening was to much harmonics at that Rpm.
I changed to a stronger spring with more seat pressure which cured the problem
