Wrong Sparkplugs?, Wrong Wires?, Wrong Rubbers?
I ordered for my 1987 C4 cross fire inj. from Mid Amarica Motorworks new spark plugs, new cables and new window rubbers. The sparkplugs that are mounted are conical seal, short threaded plugs. That is conform the service manual. From Mid Amarica I received long threaded ring-seal plugs wich does not seem to be correct to me. So I asked Mid America, They stated that these plugs are correct and an alternative that work as well. Is this indeed the case? I doubd. Please advice me if this is correct. The cable set seems also be made for an other car, some cable are too long, some are very short and one has a straight cap instaed of an 90 degree one. I tried about every combination I could immagine but not one fits OK. Is there a partnumber I should ask for?
Also the side window rear rubber I received were not correct, though the package says it is for a 86 - 96 Tical Conv. Top ( I assume that is the one I have with the removable targa) I received number 604083 and 604084 (LH and RH). The end blocks can not be fitted nowhere.
Is there also here an other part number?. I am quite disappointed.

Nico, do you have an 84 or 87 ?? If its crossfire, its an 84 and you have the wrong plugs. If it an 87 its a TPI it takes the long plugs with the washer. Are the heads iron or alluminum??
I have no clue on the weatherseal.

Looks like you got parts for a convertible and not a coupe

The serial number translates in a 87, but the engine has iron heads. Does that mean they fooled me with a car that has an older engine? And are there serious negative points about that engine?

If it are the parts for a convertible they were packed wrong, the bag says that it was a targa, But hard to change anyway, I live in Spain and transport may be more costly than the parts.
Thanks

Serial Number? WHat does your title say.. ALL '87's had aluminum engines..

The vehicle identification number has an H in at the year location. My manual says that it means 1987. But the engine has iron heads and crossfire injection. Is tha conclusion that somebody mounted an older engine in this car? Or can it be that they just changed the heads?
Please can somebody tell me what the consequences are? The car runs fine (exept that is did not run for quite a few years, so the valves seem to stick the first few miles, coming loose now. Compression improves)
Nico, I think you have an 84. Thats the only C4 that was built with a crossfire. It would be a lot of trouble to put an 84 set-up in an 87. No reason anyone would do it. Maybe someone took a wrecked 84 and 87 and put them together to make one good car. I have an 87 and the 10th digit is an H also. I think when you get engine parts you may have to order parts for an 84 . Hope you get this figured out.

Damn... Hope you didn't buy it as an '87.... If you did I'd be searching for the seller for some clarification.. I wouldn't wanna get stuck with the crossfire injection...Good luck chief..
That should have said aluminum heads for late 86 on up-not "aluminum
engines"-and if it has cross fire it's definetly not an 87. My feelings on it are these-the late 86's on up with aluminum heads and TPI are a far better set up than the Cross fire-if I bought an 87 and latter learned it had an early CF engine in it I'd be pissed-is there anything wrong with a CF-no-it's just old tech that didn't pan out.

Ok guys, thanks. So I should feel p... Indeed I do a little, but fortunately, the car runs fine. And it is my first one, so mixed feelings.
I will start a new tread about it
Thanks alot everybody.
