Default Any advice or comments on my setup

I have decided that on my 86 Vette I am going to install the following exhuast setup.

Hooker 2151-1 Long Tube Headers, down to 2 1/2 inch pipe going into a 3 inch Y-pipe and then out to 2 1/2 again which will go into my Walker Super Turbo Mufflers, no cats.

Please feel free to make and suggestions.

Thanks

If you must use a Y config instead of duals, use a 3" pipe from the header Y to the cat-back Y.

You might want to insulate/sound proof the inside of your car in the rear deck of your vette when doing this mod. Believe me, the noise inside the car will drive you nuts after awhile!

You would be better off with headers using a smaller primary tube size. If you care for an explaination, do a search on the subject.

RACE ON!!!

I am getting the Headers through a local auto parts store that is getting them directly from Hooker.

Simply because the car never had cats on it when I bought it. And it seems to out perform anyone I knows Vette that does have cats on it, and I like the sound better with no cats.

part number 31-130900 from ramdom tech will give you a mandrel bent, brushed stainless steel, with an x pipe, true dual, 2.5 inch, not cats, from the headers to the rear of your wheels, one piece unit. reuse your walker super turbos.

I have an 86 with the same headers. I just got this part from random tech, which they just recently offered. If you shop around you could probably get it for less than 380 bucks. I had a local muffler shop budy order it for me with a discount. Don't waste your time and money on the whole Front y pipe to 3 inch, to rear y pipe deal. In the end you'll always want a true dual anyway. I live out here in cali, and no muff shop would even dare to put my car on their hoist because of the missing cats. I tried to get a custom shop to do a mandrel bent set up but the estimates I got were from 800 to 1200 bucks which is insanely ridiculus. I just got my delta flows and will be attempting to intall this thing my self. I shoot you some pics when I done.

hope this helps

The headers are expensive man they are $825 Cdn before taxes thats the best I could find. You could try and look around for a better deal but unless you find someone that is selling them privately I dont think you will have much luck you never know though.

I was gonna ask you are you originally from the Island ??? because I remember seeing a Yellow Vette like yours in town all the time a couple years ago and haven't seen it around anymore.

That helps out big time but I have a few questions I cant find that part on Random Tech's website anywhere, where did you end up getting it from and would it be possible for you to post a pic of it. The only one I see on Random Tech's website is the one with Cats which I dont want.
If possible let me know where I can order this part from and again if possible please post a pic becuase I am definetly interested in something like that.

Thanks

Cool

Ya I guess you really dont need them till spring or summer, but even with that said, I shopped around alot before I purchased them and thats the best deal I could find.

I am not sure if it was on the forum or not but someone was selling a set uncoated though for like $350 I think. I will see if I can find the post again.
