Every so often, I hear a groan when I take a right or left turn at mild speeds. Not going too fast, but enough to enjoy the turning control of the vette.
The problem was there before I replaced the serpentine belt. I will be changing the shocks in the next two weeks, is there anything in the wheel hub area that I need to check or has anyone had a problem with the steering pump?

Just Monday night I removed the return hose on my power steering fluid resevoir and drained all the old 'ATF' out of the system and refilled it with a quart of the Valvoline synthetic power steering fluid (about $4.00 at AutoZone). No groaning and smoother steering. Give it a try!
Only stipulations I can think to suggest is to be sure they
don't use any snake-oil cleansers, that they refill with a
quality Dexron III (or better) and that they cycle the steering
lock-to-lock with the fr wheels elevated.
If the problem persists, then perhaps the seals in the rack
are aging. I have NO EXPERIENCE with it, but I have seen
others post that they have had results with Lucas P/S
conditioner. Do a search to review.
