Just got the motor in , all new . After getting the heads and intake on , started installing pushrods and rockers . When adjusting , I noticed one doesn't push down like the rest . Any ideas ? Tap on it , see if it frees , pull manifold back off and remove the lifter . It's acting "solid" . Got me worried . Was going to start up this weekend , but this maybe another in long line of setbacks. Could this one be pumped up from the preoilling ?

I thought the same thing when it happened to me this summer. Turns out the lifters were bottomed out and were missing the spring that held up the plunger. I ripped down the motor and Crower sent a new set. They seemed fine and I ran the motor. At 4k on the dyno, all the lifters fell apart. It cost me a motor. If they are Crower lifters, get your money back and buy something else.
Mine are Comp Cams . This one that's in question , the plunger isn't bottomed . It doesn't compress at all when I push on the plunger . The other 15 do .
If they are the 858's your in trouble!
Comp Cams just replaced all mine.
F-body guys are real upset with comp cam, rollers.
I just got all of mine replaced.
I just ran into the same problem installing CC RR's on my new motor.
When I went to adjust the lash half of the push rods would not budge
the plunger in the lifter.I ended up pulling them out and taking them apart. It turns out that from soaking them in oil some had the oil traped inside and were acting like a solid.I drained them out, made sure the plunger was working freeley and put them back together. They work fine now but it was a PIA especially when your talking new parts, new motor.Part number was 850-16.
