They filed for Chapter 11 a few weeks ago. Tells us the sad state of affairs with our automakers.

I bet someone on this forum can help you out if you ask. Go to the For sale/Wanted section and post your desire to purchase one. Many tuners like myself visit this forum and either have a spare or know how to get one.

Personally I don't think it is a Delphi issue. Mainly because GM no longer uses Delphi as a rebuilder for their PCMs or ECMs. GM now uses A1 Caradone! Which in my opinion is junk. But that is all we have now. For me I would rather get a used PCM or ECM from a wrecking yard, that I know was new from GM at one time or rebuilt by Delphi when it was Delphi that was performing the rebuilding.

I wonder if you can get GM electronics (ECM, CCM, etc.) at this site:

http://www.sotelectronics.com/

They say:
"Remanufacturing Facility for Delphi Delco Electronics"

Another thought, are there any "real" Delco shops left?

Sounds like everything is going the way of "rebuilt alternators."

I bought a lifetime warranty rebuilt alternator from Pep Boys -- probably rebuilt in Asia somewhere.

After I replaced the fourth one in three years under "lifetime" warranty, and at very inconvenient times, I bought an all new one for twice the money and only a one year warranty that hasn't gone bad in five years.

I figure lifetime warranties are for suckers anymore -- like me.

I tried to get an alternator from a Lincoln dealer parts department.
They didn't have any in stock and I didn't want to wait, so I asked him where I could get an alternator that would last.
He told me to go to a reputable (non-discount) auto store and ask for a "quality" alternator and not the one they sold for peanuts to compete with the discount stores.
He said it would cost at least twice as much and wouldn't have a lifetime warranty -- that's how you could tell it was good.

I've had good luck with the Duralast Gold "all new" alternator from Autozone for about $120.
And, the "all new" Sears alternators are supposed to be good, from what I hear.
These are not rebuilts, they have all new parts.

I haven't had any trouble with my Delco rebuilt alts on my F-body cars. But yeah, I first bought the pep boys lifetime alt, and yeah, it lasted 6 months.

What is funny is that the part is lifetime, not the labor. As I pointed out to the manager--sounds like a good racket--keep charging $75 every 6 months for the life of the car, they really make out in the end.

I really believe that is their business strategy. Needless to say, as I told the manager, I won't even buy paint from Pep Boys again.

Tom I think these guys repair Delphi/AC Delco radio systems and instrument panels from GM vehicles. There are still many of these shops around. I used Jimmys Auto Electric in Phoenix to convert my 95 dash so that it would have the ZR1 dash face so I could have the better Tach. It was $75 in 1996 as compared to LPE or DRM that would charge you $300+ for the same conversion.
