dtc 48: MAF system fail ?

dtc 48: MAF system fail ?
I was driving my 96 LT-4 yesterday and it started sputtering and missing erratically. When I pulled the codes it showed dtc 48: MAF system fail. After arriving back home I opened up the intake air housing to take a look at the MAF. There was no trash or broken sensors. I decided to use some electrical contact cleaner to clean any small particle's off the sensors. After doing this the car seems to run better with no missing or sputtering. Drove it for 30 miles today with no problems. To be honest the car feels faster and idles better. Is it possible the MAF was good and the contact cleaner fixed it? Anyone ever used contact cleaner to clean the MAF sensor with the same results?

i spray mine also every time i take my k&n air filter out and clean it. it never looks dirty but i spray it down anyway while im in there. my k&n filter is always dirty though and needs to be cleaned about once a month.
