Not too long ago I put in a cat back 3" B&B Tri flow exhaust system on my 96/LT4. I know many complained about the noise of B&B, but mine is considerably quite in my opinion. I can hear it on the inside a little, but others at the track have commented on how quite my car is.
I still have the stock cats and have been seeing a lot about Random Tech Hi flow cats. The stock cats are fairly huge from the looks, but with 100K miles on them... The engine is otherwise stock for the most part.
Would high flow cats be a noticable benefit? Or perhaps with the age & mileage its time to replace them any way?

Random Tech makes a direct bolt in replacement for your stock cats. they are however expensive. Another choice would be to install a nice set of EM long tube headers and a set of 3" Dynatech Headers Metal Cats just after the headers. These flow in excess of 500 CFM and there would be an appreciable gain in power with the headers and the CATs.
Can't go with headers because of the class I run in Auto-x. Would love too though, but not ready to just into a whole different class that would require a lot more mods to be competative.

Assuming SCCA Stock class, I'm afraid a hi flo cat would be just as illegal. Wish I had a cheap legal replacement option for you and I both.
13.10.E...Replacement catalytic converters must be OE if the vehicle has not exceeded the five-year/50,000 mile warranty period as mandated by the EPA. Converters must be of the same type and size and used in the same location as the original equipment converter(s). This does not allow for a high performance unit. If the vehicle has exceeded the five-year/50,000 mile warranty period, replacement catalytic converters must be OE-type as per Section 13.
