-Replaced intake gaskets and coolant temp sens.
-Car starts and idles fine til it hits 160-170ish, then surges a bunch and dies. When this happens it won't even rev. TPS wasn't touched, set at .54
-With key in "on" pos, oil pressure reads 4 lbs?! Never did this before
-And lots of moisture in the exhaust.
After idling/startup-stop for 30 min, it still had it but no white smoke. Car has sat for a month or so.

Code 42 is EST. When you reinstalled your distributor after the gasket change did you get the distributor plug connected properly? Could the EST still be disconnected at the brake booster from setting the timing? Your service manual has a sequence of checks to diagnose the EST system.
The surging and dying sounds as though it may be related to going into closed loop, but I'm hard pressed to come up with a cause. Could the EGR valve be opening at idle or low rpm when it shouldn't be?
