Default 95/96 LT1 cam

Can any body here tell me what is the lenght of the 95/96 dowel pin? I am going to do a Cloye double chain conversion later. I already a got a 95 timimg cover and 95 opti. But I want to keep my current custom cam. Therefore I am going to press out the shorter dowel pin on the cam and press in the longer dowel pin. I am going to use the C clamp and a deep sock go over the dowel pin and press it out. The last time I heard the dowel pin is about .720 long?

Tom
Do you happen to know the diameter? Because I have a whole bunch dowel pins at work that I measured some are .312 ans some are .250. I can just put them on the lathe and turn them to size.

Awsome. I got crap load of dowel pin that measure .250 diameter and 1" long. I guess all I have to do is put it on the lathe and cut it to the correct length.

Bruce, once you pull the old pin out, and you may have to heat the cam journal in the dowel pin area to remove it. This will not hurt the cam although it may discolor it some from the heat no damage will become of it. I clamp the dowel pin in a vise, heat it, rock it back and forth using the vise as leverage point to remove the pin. Once the pin is out, a 1" pin should drive in deep enough without having to cut it down on a lathe.

Tom
Thanks for the tip. To be honest, I feel much safe by installing the Cloye Double chain because I feel the chain I got in there now will not survive the dyno pull later in the Spring.
