Do I need to remove the big twin triangle aluminum brace under the rear of the car to remove the rear bumper cover?
I took out the filler door lid and removed all the screws I could get to by reaching in there (about 6 or so), removed the four small torx screws attaching the fender liners to the rear bumper on each side of the car and removed the four 10mm (head) bolts that hold the rear bumper to the crash pad (bottom of bumper cover) but now I'm stuck - there are screws I can't reach from the filler door access and I know there are screws mounting the bumper cover to the quarter panels along the corners but I can't seem to get to them.
reach up at the corner of each bumper. There are about 4 10 MM nuts to get loose.
After that, there are 3 more 10MM nuts at the bottom of each side, where it bolts to the quarterpanels.
Besides the 2 behind the license plate, it sounds like you got all the rest, I've taken the bumper on my '85 off a few times, so if you have any questions I might be able to answer them.
Take those rear inner fender liners completely out - that will help tremendously. You'll also need to remove the tail light lenses and you can reach in through them.
