I have a chip from PCMforless to tune for my mods. The car will not run at all with the stock PROM. The communication issues started to happen with the piggyback pcm so I decided to at least establish communication with the stock. I can not communicate with either.
I had stock injectors but the car ran worse and had a bad misfire. I believe one of the injectors was plugged. The new ones smoothed it out considerably, but that's when the knock started. I tried to diagnose timing to fix the knock, which lead to trying to get a data dump, which lead to my car not communicating, which lead to this thread.
I hate to ask but you did have the power disconnected when you messed with the ECM correct?
The stock GM injectors will stick if they set up for any amount of time but it is prety simple to fix, I use a set of test leads and a toggle switch and connect one jumper to +12 VDC and the other to the toggle Sw that has ground on the other side of the SW. With the injector in the rail and the other end in a jar I flip the SW and tap the injector and it will usaly fire and be good as new, well good enough anyway. I had 7 of 8 stuck shut on my last motor and all 8 worked fine after I did this.
I wish you had a 94/95 I would ship you my spare ECM to give it a shot.
I'm trying to get ahold of a guy I know with a '93. Even if he won't let me swap computers, at the very least I could try to communicate with his car and see if it's my diagnostic setup or my ECM. Of course nothing is ever easy, I have bare wires for +12 and gnd on my ALDL cable since I don't have a cig lighter in my own car...sheesh. I'd have to tap into power and gnd somewhere in his fuse block.
Besides, I'd rather put my computer in another car. I'm worried that if the problem is in my car's wiring than she'll damage another ECM. It's safer to do the swap the other way.

Sometimes...I've changed PROMS, disconnected battery, and toggled ignition so many times that I'm sure that at some point I did one or all of the above with power to the ECM.

At the time I was in a race to get out for the last track event so I was willing to throw money at the car. I figured I needed bigger injectors anyway to handle all of the increased flow and aggressive cam. So I never played with my stock ones. In fact, I think I pitched them.
