Default White Smoke

1990 l98 with 200,000 miles runs good does not miss a beat but it has White Smoke out of exhaust. No water in oil. Looks like anti freeze leaking on top of heads where intake manifold is conected. Could this be an intake manifold gasket gone bad or could it be my worst nightmare a head gasket that has gone bad.

I am SURE it's the intake... but if those are the OEM headgaskets, I would swap them at the same time.

I am down to the intake manifold and distributor. I plan on taking heads off and replacing OEM Head Gasket. While I have it down this far are there any sugestions for any other things that I should do. I would like to get a bit more HP. (new injectors, rebuild heads, Headers etc...???)

With 200,000 miles, I would have the heads gone over by a good machine shop at the very least.
While you are that far into it, I'd have the engine rebuilt. You can put all KINDS of power enhancers in there while that's being done, if that's your desire. Just freshening up the complete (stock) engine should pick up 20-30hp, I'd think, over what it is actually putting out now.
Perfect excuse/opportunity, in my estimation.

I disagree. That would be throwing good money after bad, in my opinion. Those fresh heads will over power the best seal those 200,000 mile rings could ever possibly generate. I would either simply fix the leak or totally go through it. A partial "improvement" will just have you chasing your tail trying to keep up with all the deficiencies the first change will bring to light. It will take far longer and probably cost 3 times as much to do it piecemeal.

RACE ON!!!

Default Thanks to all

I had a very successful intake manifold gasket install thanks to the help of this site. The car is running great I put all new parts back on including injectors (Bosch Pink Top). I also had the intake and plenum cleaned and beaded. #With all of this it cost me less than $600 and I can feel the difference under the gas pedal. Again thanks all.
