Default Supercharging a C4

Any suggestions on supercharging a C4... as far as what brand of supercharger and HIGH quality installation shops? Also, would like to hear from anyone who has done this as to your results, cost and experience...what about custom tuning too? I have a 1996 C4 convertible collectors edition with an LT1, auto transmission, 53k miles, meticulously maitained. Located in Indianapolis.

Also, has anyone put in a turbocharger on one of these vettes? What were your results, cost and experience?

Mark

For me, the best place i can recommend to you is Blowerworks. www.blowerworks.net or greg@blowerworks.net. Your 1 stop shop for everything you need.

I have a Vortech.... new kit is about 5K you will put another 2K in it with gauges and software for programing etc... and then installation on top of that if you chose not to install it yourself.

Then once you are hooked with the power you'll spend more for forged internals...

It's kind of .." you get what you pay for" and you DON'T want to take short cuts....

Hope this helps....

turbocharging will cost around 10k to have done right. single or twins.
mini-twins might even fit where the cats do.
I beleive a universal STS could easily be adapted to a c4 without cutting. or at least minimum cutting.
I know a couple a guys who teamed up an built one.
maf cars are pretty tolerable to boost but a serious system will no doubt need a stand alone.
speed is money friend, that is my experience. My own car has far surpassed what I originally intended.
The turbo setup cost me about 5k to build. i popped the stock pistons due to an Ill placed boost reference line and had to go forged/twin disc/cage etc. now that Im fully forged, dry sump, stand alone equipped (and didn't finish it this season due to time/$$ constraints) I will be entertaining myself this winter with a new, enormous UTV94 and skipping the "max out the turbo I have" step.
I can't even begin to tell you what I have tied up in this car.
Your taking the first steps down the "darkside" lol. but you'll love every minitue of it.

supercharger/turbocharger both have there plusses and minuses in our chassis. belts for supers', room for piping for turbo's(and heat management) It's all in your personal tastes, do you want you whistle to follow rpm or load?

my c4 is a constant work in progress always searching for more power. and faster et's. my 383 cu in * vortech 11lbs. s-trim * gaseous intercooling and fuel system by blowerworks * makes 496 horse to the wheels and brings the car down the track at 10.98 @ 124mph with a little more tuning work we will see 10.80's
