Default LT1 intake for L98

Anyone with first hand experience with an LT1 intake on an L98 would help . Considering this i hear that low end torque will be lost. If you teamed the LT1 intake up with lower gears (3.73), how bad would you be at the low-end range????Im sure you would lose some low-end compared to the SR or ported TPI, but would it equal out compared to using the SR with 3.07's?

The LT1 is set up for high speed and rpm's.
You will lose TQ but just throw in a set of gears and that will take care of it.

I have an lt4 intake on my 86 with automatic and 3.07 gears. The torque loss may show up on the dyno or drag strip, but I sure can't feel any lack of torque on the street. It will break the tires loose with no problems, and accelleration in OD is very good at low rpm's. I don't race it but it works well on the street. (I had a vortec tpi intake but sold it and bought the lt4 intake because I had to be different)

Dunno how much exactly it loses, but when I was stock (with basic bolt-ons) I was getting 1.8/1.7 60foots at the track, and 1.6 now with the superram. I haven't seen many semi stock LT1's pull those hard launches unless they using full slicks with suspension changes and or line-lock, etc..

On a 383 I'd venture out that they'd make up for the loss of low-end torque, but on a 350, I dunno... Search the thirdgen.org forums about the LT1 conversion, they have a LOT of threads about it..

Why ?
They are very similar in terms of runner lenght, more suited to top end rather than bottom end torque.
I know with my '87 TPI setup I could lose some bottom end in exchange for the top if only to help traction problems.

I don't have the exact specs but I recall reading long ago about the differences of the miniram vs superram vs LT1 intake etc.. etc...
The miniram outflowed even the LT1 at high rpms by a lot, of course giving up tons of torque at low rpms.. The LT1 intake was right 1/2 between the superram/ miniram. I'd have an LT1 intake on my car already were it not for the fact that the LT1 conversion installation is a MAJOR PITA (If it even is correctly doe and doesn't leak), and looks totally rigged with an external thermostat and lines, BLECH .. Also it's not emissions legal.. (Only the superram is)..
