92 6speedshifting help
ok i have a 92 6speed with 49,000 on it just got it .The car runs great but sometimes when i start to take off in 1st and letting the cluch out it makes a spining light grind noise sounds like in the back end everyother gear is ok might do this one or two times when i drive it well thanks for any info on this

Sounds like a U-Joint might be going out. I have a 1993-6 speed that had the same problem at 35,000 miles. I had all the U-Joints replaced and it solved the problem. No more popping/crunching when taking off. Funny thing is, it started again at 58,000 miles. I took it to a local Corvette shop to have checked out, and they didn't see any wear on them. They did replace the left side only, and it did stop again. But every once in a while it will make a popping noise. When the car was checked out, they checked every nut and bolt in the rear of the car to try and find out where the noise is coming from, and everything checked out OK. I have talked to several people that have owned several C4's, and all say they hear something in the rear end every now and then. I would recommend having your U-Joints checked and possible replaced.
