hey everyone. have a question bout the whole pke problem. the light is constantly on, the alarm portion does not work at all, and from time to time, when you turn off the car and try to start back up, it does nothing at all. turn the key and acts as if the battery is not connected. i have to pop the hood and disconnect the positive side and then we are golden. btw, its a 1994 lt-1. thanks in advance.

I had PKE problems on my 96 coupe also. I didn't experience any starting problems but the PKE light would stay on for days at a time, even without the key in the ignition. Then it would mysteriously go out for a day or two and then come back on again. After looking in the shop manual I have now guessed that the PKE receiver under the dash is bad. I didn't want to fool with the system because I understand that the system doesn't work half the time for a lot of people anyway. So, I decided to try to get the light to go off. Pulling the bulb was one option, but it entailed quite a bit of time and work to get the bulb out of the DIC. Removing the fuse for the bulb wouldn't do because the power door locks are on the same fuse, so I waited until the light went out and then pulled the PKE receiver fuse. Since then the light only comes on once in a while and usually goes out when I put the key in the ignition or start the car.
Don't know if this helps you or not. Good luck in fixing your problem.
