Prior to purchasing my car the previous owner dropped a new engine into the car. During this process the "oil temp sensor' was broken. I have a new sensor that I bought a few months ago from local chevy dealer and I am now ready to install. I have been waiting to time this change with a oil change and now is the time... Has anyone changed one of these out before? Any suggestions?
Yeah.............it's a little tight back there. Some remove the wiper arm motor and others remove the distributor to get at it. I opted for the latter. Pretty straight forward R&R once your in there. I did put some liquid thread sealer around the threads before re-assembly.
Don't have the service manual for the 94 but I have changed the oil temp sensor on my 90.
During this next oil change, remove the filter, and look above the filter mount assembly. There may well be a couple of wires going into the filter mount. Not really sure if GM moved the sensor but would bet only one beer they didn't.
As a note, I would make every effort to secure a Helms Factory Service Manual. If you have too, sell some furniture, I know I'd miss my manual more than say, the cooking untensils.

I think your referring to the oil pressure sensor. The oil temp sensor is located right above the oil filter. You really should remove the oil filter when replacing it just to make things easy on yourself. Do it on your next planned oil change and you should be fine!
