Default Block filler?

I want to do a partial fill in my block, but it is already machined. I have heard that it is not recommended to fill the block after machining due to slight changes the fill may make. Any opinions? The block in question is an LT1 block with splayed billet caps and a 3.75 crank.

I agree, I would not fill the block post machine work, besides as tough as the LTx blocks are, it is not as important as it was on the gen 1 350's which were not as substantial as our motors. the material weight alone between the two will show that the LTX blocks are closer to the aftermarket race blocks then the gen 1's.

If you are looking for a little more block support, I would investigate the use of a main girdle to help keep the crank aligned under duress and put your worries to rest. besides unless you are gunning for 1000+ mark.. it is overkill.. although goals do have a way of changing..

for now.. hearing it fire up and watching the turbo come to life for the first time is my first goal, I figure I will enjoy the small steps along the way to getting where I wanna go..

have ya gotten back to it or are you still away from your car? lemme know what your game plan is man.. long time no updates from ya!

I am still working on a 4x4. It's basically a toy, but it is going to be my work truck this winter. My car still sits aside the house darkening my domain in its auto coccoon. If I could just get the engine totally assembled and in, it would boost my motivation. I plan on getting back to it this winter.
For now, I'll have to be patient. It's your time to shine, can't wait for your next update.

Anti venom,

you are 100% correct... that was the pinnacle for me.. just getting the new motor assembled and completed even just on the stand is what got my fire stoked.. then when i plunked it in the car and got the tranny and torque arm and driveshaft bolted up.. from there I was on a mission.. the motor is like work..lol the turbo stuff is like playing in a sand box when your a kid... you can't get enough of it.. if ya have a heated work space, and get soem free time.. just do it.. I know how tough it is to go in to tackle that part oft he project when the scope of what has to be done is so big, but I mean to tell ya.. it all fell together for me with that.. since then the fuel system got finished another benchmark in the project, you just won't believe what getting that dreaded step finished will open up for you mentally!
