Welcome aboard.

Ask about the owners manual. Lot's of gadgets on these cars, knowing how the various antitheft systems work is informative. The oil change monitor system is a known favorite, the list goes on.

If no manual comes with the car, get on ebay or "gasp" - pay the fare and buy new. Hey, you're driving a Corvette, not a Vega.

Then comes the factory service manaul. Good Xmas present if you can wait that long. I ordered mine within 24 hours.

If you like cars and driving, you may find yourself laughing out loud as you turn fuel into fun.

What a hoot.

Keep the greasy side down.

Ok Corvetteman,,, your scaring me now !!!!! LOL

Ill know alot more in about 12 hours when my flight lands in Newark NJ !!!

Gonna spend the day in town with the car checking some things. And as it turns out I will be 8 miles from the World Trade Center site.

I consider that a once in a life time opportunity, so I am going to swing by there also.

Next time I will post will be Sunday when I am schedualed to get home, and God willing the car will be home with no issues !!!!!! Here we go !!!!!!!!!

HA! no reason to be scared of it, until it gets stuck on and holds the throttle open about 1/8th and makes it very hard to stop the car. This happend to me about a week ago, i was on my way to the doctor, going along a mildly winding country road, up abit of a hill, the cruise pulled in for the hill, and never came back out. so for the next 6-8klms i drove braking very regularly to keep the car at a managable speed, since there was no where to stop, i had to keep going til i got into the town, at which time my brakes were still working fine, but as soon as i stopped smoke was coming out of the front wheels, and they were so hot you could see the heat haze coming off them!! I fixed the cruise servo in about 30 seconds after lifting the bonnet, (still havent checked it all thoroughly yet to determine cause) When i got back in the car, my brake pedal went straight to the floor, i checked the fluid, and it was bubbling and almost overflowing out of the resevior so i rolled into the car park just up the street using the park brake. All was well when it cooled down abit, but the fluid was shot to ****. I have replaced it and its all back to normal and seems no damage was done. But just so you know what CAN happen, make sure the cruise control is in tip top shape before trying to use it!!!

Well,,,, shes home !!!!!!!!! WOW what a trip. I cant get the chit eating grin off of my face !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car is better then described. My faith in humanity is restored !!!!!!!!

Slight vibration at,,,,, Um,,,,, 110 MPH. And a slight brake pulse when stopping from that speed. Not a big deal Im sure.

Owner said he had road wear on the rockers in his description.

15 mins after hitting the driveway I had the buffer out and went over the car. I probably added $1,000 to its value in 2 hours. What a difference.

Interior is borderline mint. The rubberised pad around the shifter and seat controls is peeling in about a dime sized spot. I will be replacing that.

The 5 inch crack in the windshiel is about 3 inches and up in the pass sdie upper corner. Going to check into getting it repaired instead of replaced.

What should the top speed of this car be, and is it computer limited?

Cruise is out, but the hoses seem dryrotted, so I will replace those before going further, but he did say a GM tech said it needed the vacuum pump for it so I believe him.

Thanks for the welocme all. Id hang out longer tomight, but its about 50 degrees and Im going cruising !!!!!!!!

Good stuff mate!!
1st thing, the crack might be from someone jacking the car up without the roof on.(if its a coupe)

2nd thing,if the brakes pulse, have a look at the rotors and pads, if they appear to have some grooves in them this is your pulsing. If the pads arent too expensive(im not sure on cost over there), replace them and have the discs machined.Replace fluid while youre at it.

3rd thing, the top speed will vary depending on auto or manual, and diff ratios. But about 160 mph give or take some.

4th thing, and very importantly so, get to know the car well before you go out driving it hard!! This car commands respect, 300bhp can very easily and quickly get out of hand.

5th thing, that vibration at 110mph could be tyres, or it might be the road surface.

6th thing, the rubber coating is a bitch of a thing i reckon. I repainted all my dash parts with a black satin finish spray paint. Ill email you some pictures if youre interested in seeing that

94 is a bloody good C4, ive got one myself!!

THATS MY CAR !!!!!!!!!! But I have ZR1 5 spokes on it !!!!!!

It stopped pulling at 140 MPH ,,, still climbing, but I doubt it has another 20 MPH in it. Its a 6 speed. I have no idea the ratios.

Not a huge concern,,, just a curiosity question.

That was my first t hough,,, machine the rotors and go from there. A ton of pad left on them. Just talked to the last owner, he said they wernt machined at the last pad change.

I love this car so far !!!!!

A hearty "Congrats!" to you. I'm sure you'll have a blast with the car. I have a '94 6-speed 'vert, and I love it.

But, as recommended by casethecorvetteman, do get to know this car a bit better (and get the kinks worked out) before you push it too hard. Before you go pushing this car to triple-digit speeds, get the vibration eliminated, get the brakes up to snuff, make sure the tires are still good for such speeds, get the suspension/steering/alignment fully checked out, etc.

Welcome aboard!

Be well,

SJW

I very much with that. When you drive fast, you want everything the best it can be, and you want to know the car like the back of your hand. The more you know about the car, the better you can drive it, and the more prepared you may be for the unexpected!!!

congrats on your 94!!

from reading this thread,

1. check/replace the vac lines before/or with replacing the cruize pump- C4's have a bad habbit of doing this as the lines are right above the battery and the acid over time will eat right through them

2. I drive VERY QUICK and FAST (too). fast relates to speed, quick relates sudden accel, decel and turning. IE. always on GAS or BRAKE driving. from experience there are many things to keep up with but mainly ALWAYS HAVE GOOD BRAKES AND TIRES!

3. BOSE is a GREAT system but is incompatible with aftermarket units-per my sound guy- if you replace the head unit you must replace the speakers. thats why i left it alone

4. also if you want to drive fast around town- DONT put on an EXHAUST- my best/worst choice so far. Reason is loud exhausts are head turners/intimidators , but that includes police too.

5. i also noticed that up to ~140 it PULLS STRONG, but somewhere around/above 140 it takes ALOT OF ROOM/STRAIGHT to build more speed

most stock LT1s are capable of low/mid 150's, some high 150's.
and lt4s are 160-170
and ZR1s are 170-180

enjoy!!!!!!!!!! and dont get into (too) much trouble!- i think most of us on this forum have been pretty lucky with our lack of encounters with the police
