Default Rear Window

On The '84 I've Just Received, When I Popped Open The Rear Hatch, The Interior Part Of The Rear Window Came Loose On One Side. Is This Plastic? Is It Just A Matter Of Re-gluing Back In Place. Why Is There 2 Parts To The Window Anyway? I'm A Newbie. Thanks For Some Help.

If you mean the weatherstripping is coming apart, the same thing happened to me. Don't glue it replace it for around $100.00, it's a simple job.

I wasn't paying enough attention. It is an add-on piece used as window tinting, rather than applying window tinting right onto the glass.

Yeah, this obviously isn't very common. Once I looked at it again over the weekend, I realized what it was. I'll post a pic whenever I can, but I'll try to describe it.

It is a one piece tinted, transparent (obviously) flexible plastic window that is the same size and shape of the rear window. It attaches on the inside of the window by suction cups. The suction cups have aged and one of them has broken, causing one side to drop down when I open the hatch. Looks like a simple fix if something like this is still available.

I don't know if this was on the car when my father bought it from the dealer in '84 or if it is aftermarket that he added on later. As I stated in another post, my father recently passed away and the car was passed on to me, so he's not here to ask. Anyway, it appears to be good quality, not tacky looking at all, a clever idea actually.

As I learn more, i'll post it.
