First Vette 96 LT4 6 Speed
Wow! This car is bad.
I just got it over the weekend. I got the car of Ebay. Best investment I ever made.

Chrome ZR1 Wheels
I have a friend who has a 97 Cobra pretty much stock. Anybody ever race one? I have rode in his car, I think I can take him.
My car is stock other than the wheels and the K&N air filter.
Are there any upgades I can do for a few extra ponys that are fairly cheap?
I defenatly want to get some loader better flowing exhaust.
Has anybody ever messed with the catalytic converters on these cars? Like taking them off or hollowing them out or do they have a bunch of O2 sensors.

Great first Vette...... my Collector Edition LT4 is also my first Vette. As with your friend with the 97 Cobra...... you will walk him easily ... trust me, I speak from experience as my buddy has a 98 Cobra.

Thanks thats nice to know, I have allready him that he will have to take out his passenger and rear seats to even come close. That really ticked him off. I think he knows I can take him, he keeps talking about NOS...

on the LT4. My advise on all mods would be....(1) use the "Search" function on this forum, (2) start a thread if you still have any questions/concerns, (3) shop around to avoid the corvette tax, (4) post your results/impressions. Good luck w/ the car and have fun waxing your buddy's Slobra.

97 cobra is a joke. You car will embarass him :o
If you car is in mechanically sound, you should be able to run high 12 in the 1/4 at around 108mph with good tires.
Congrats on the car and take good care of it.
As far as simple mods, I would get CAI, Long tube header, full exhaust, 52mm t-body, and gears. These mods will get you in the low low 12s without touching the motor!

From: St. Peters MO Sometimes you have to prove yourself by doing alot of killing or alot of dying...
You won't have a problem with the Cobra. They are high 13 cars where even a bad driver can put an LT4 in the mid 13's... a good driver will see high 12's.

I also paid $16.5K for mine (had 35,000 miles on it.) Yours looks like it's been lowered a bit.

Quicker, Faster an Better Handling
There are few things more to consider over the Cobra. You are better handling and faster top end. Just don't discuss trunk space. Mustangs aren't a direct competition for Vettes. They are a Camaro or Firebird type of car. BTW LT4 Firebirds and Camaro SS's spank Cobras also.

i have raced an 04 mach 1 which is basically the same thing in my lt4 and you will absolutely murder that car.. its not even funny. talk him up like you are worried you might lose and rip that car apart.
