so stock injectors will be sufficient??? i know one can get too carried away and put ones on that are tooo big. And the stock TB will be alright???? im getting my heads proted a lil profesionally too, and maybe in the near future a super-ram...... I know you can over do it with the Throttle Body too. I am going to order a new TQ converter. Ive been saving up and have plans for this engine, id sure like to get it right the first time.

The stock throttle body is more than enough, the injector size is fine, too. You can always add an adjustable fuel pressurew regulator whole its apart should you want a touch more fuel. If you want bigger, 24lb Bosch's will work w/o reflashing the chip.

stock TB can give plenty of air and stock injectors can do just fine (adding an adj. fpr.)on a mild build.

I agree w/out pulling it apart you don't know what you need. Yes upon reasssy. use a new waterpump, hoses etc. that should be a given, who wants to back in there anytime soon.
As to motor, you will first need to determine (like others have said) what are you looking to accomplish. First and formost this will determine the price range and performance.
If it were me and I needed to go to .30 over re-cond. everything, block, crank, rods, gaskets , bearings, machining etc. and someones labor, at that point a crate shortblock might be a better move (get build prices and compare) you don't know, but if miles were over 100k I would'nt shortcut that process .
At the very least re-cond. heads would be a must, but adding a different cam the equation, you would have to look at what is going on w/heads valve train to support a different cam, and perhaps intake mods.
These things can easily start changing the idea of a "budget". JMO

I would agree with the poster that reccommended a new water pump, along with new hoses and a new belt. I feel this goes with saying, including new spark plugs, rotor, cap and wires. Some frugal people rebuild using old gaskets and plugs like my neighbor and wonder why the costly machine work doesn't make his car run any better. LOL. Rely on what your machine shopr reccommends. Mine reccommended a 30 over on the cyclinders, Which meant I needed new pistons and rings. I even bought new rods as he told me it cost about the same to reuse the old ones or get get better new ones. Then 10 over on the crank bearing surfaces. My crank was in great shape and was magnafluxed as well as the block. I spent alot of money of my heads, buyt could have just cleaned them up and reused the original valves and springs. It always takes longer and costs more that anyone ever imagines. The stock TB will be fine as others have already said. As far as the fuel tank. When I changed the fuel pump. I found alot of junk in the tank, and cleaned it out with new rags. I also changed the fuel filter as a precaution too. The filter sock on my fuel pump had become HOLY. When I tried to remove the rubber boot that surrounds the filler neck, it was brittle and tore really bad. I also got delayed due to needing a gas tank to filler neck gasket from the dealer too. Plan ahead, label all bolts in baggies as you go. I always seem to wind up with extra bolts for some reason.....
