I'm no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. But last week my brother-in-law and I changed the front brake pads on my '84. I drove it for about a week and yesterday out of the blue I got a screeching noise on the driver side. This is not happening all of the time. Which, I know makes it harder to diagnose. When I installed the pads I noticed that they had a sensor tab. I installed them as indicated with the sensor on the inside. I'll be pulling the wheels on Saturday. Anything special I can look for?
I have always used the blue colored anti squeak that you would place on the back side of the pad. The screeching is most likely the pad vibrating against the caliper.
Are you pulling my leg or what? You know it's quite long by now. I have never heard of blue anti-squeek. If I go in to NAPA are they going to laugh me out of the place?

There are multiple colors if that is what you are concerned about. If it makes you feel better, ask for the Red CRC antisqueak. If they laugh at you, go to a different parts store.
Thanks guys. I removed the wheels and brake pads, cleaned the rotors and pads and have had no noise since.
My other problem is a little more perplexing. I can't lock up the wheels. When I try I get to a point where the brake pedal hits a stopping point, rock hard. Do I need to bleed them? Like I said I'm no mechanic.
