1) there is a way to manually open it the cable that actuates the latch runs a little long and you can pull on it to make the latch release. Not sure if this is possible with the luggage shade still installed though (I removed mine).
2) play with the driver door sensor. push it in several times, try pushing it fairly hard (another trick to get mine to open).
3) try opening and closing the passenger door since that door sees a lot less usage, that sensor is probably still good and should let you open the hatch.
4) if you just need to get in there before the milk gets warm, try unhooking the battery for a few minutes and then you might be able to open it.
rear hatch (window) won't open, '95 c4. is there a way to open it
manually. where is the relay?. thanks, jp
The same thing happened to me and my 88. There is a manual release in the center under the shade that SpankyYellow was talking about. Once you get it open, remove the piece thay covers the latch. There is a relay in there that could be bad. I wound up replaceing the latch and at that time it was still available at GM, although someone on the forum might know where to get used. Good Luck.
On my 86 the relay loosened and fell from the socket. The fuse/relay panel is on the passenger side of the dash on my car, as soon as I removed the cover the relay fell out.
Good luck
