Default recommendations needed:LT headers 1993 LT1 automatic

I need some recommendations on headers for a 1993 Auto LT1 (383). I'm looking to keep in the 500 or so price range (if possible 0 if not as close as possible). I am set on Long Tube headers.. no special coatings or material required.. your input is appreciated!

www.tpis.com Since you don't care much about coatings the uncoated is $600 I believe, and the coated I bought are $750, I know you mentioned staying around $500, but their isn't very much around that pricerange...even the hooker super competition 1 and 3/4 shortys headers I just returned to summit were $530 .. I did quite a bit of research on these, many cars well into the 10's and faster are running with this exact 1 and 3/4 primary longtube header, It also comes with a custom 3 inch Y-pipe that slip fits right onto the header collectors...... these seem to be one of the best available for your and my year as far as design, performance, quality, and installation ease, Iv'e heard nothing but good things about them, mine will be here monday afternoon.....I'll let you know how they look, and fit up...........Joe

I would recommend Exotic Muscle headers over TPIS headers any day of the week...and I OWN a set of TPIS headers. EM came out with their set quite a while after I bought mine so I was kind of stuck with them. But plain and simple the EM headers are better quality, and install much easier than the TPIS headers, and you don't have to worry about possible needing O2 sensor extenders because of the odd place TPIS decided to put thie O2 bungs. EM is having a GP on thiers right now at $671 coated, if you call Merle or Trever and ask for an uncoated set that should knock off anywhere from $75-100 (just a guess) and get you pretty close to your goal.

Their number is 480 967 4222, you can tell them Jay told you to call and ask for the uncoated price, I do a lot of work for them so they know me well (but there are a few Jay's around so I'm the one with the silver/black LT4 if they need any clarification! )

EM's are the way to go. But I would also say not to waste your money or time with an uncoated header. The heat alone will be a killer under that hood then add in the fact that they will look like crap in 6 months. Headers are a PITA just to do it twice. My $.02
