Get the car warmed up. Shut it off. Unplug the ESC. The plug can be found between the brake booster and the engine. Look for a single wire (brown/black tracker) plug in amoungst the wires there. Use a timing light and turn the distributor to the desired initial advance. I believe the factory setting is 6 deg BTDC. When done, shut down. Reconnect the ESC. You may see a SES on the dash, but mine will usually go away after i shut it down. If necessary, you might have to reset it. Good luck
It's down at the base of the distributor, behind the vacuum solenoid that is for the EGR. One bolt, don't take it out, just loosen it a bit then snug it back up just so you can move the dist.
cant find that brown wire either....so much for lasik
You may not see any of the wire. Look where ralph said at all the wiring harness'. You should see a connector, single pin, that seems to be out of the main sleeve for no reason. If you peel back the sleeve you will then see the wire color and know you have the right one.
PS if your 85 is as old as mine, and I'm willing to bet it is, the wire may appear to be pink or off-white
