I'm setting here reading in mid america about a shift control micro switch,page-66 has anyone tryed this and how well does it work and where did you mount the switch, is it just to lock out the converter or can you use it as another gear? thanks ..joe
"If your 1981-E93 Corvette's automatic (700R4) transmission is shifting up and down when driving at "in-town speeds,"
As far as I am aware it is just a switch to give you manual control over convertor lock up to stop it engaging / disengaging at lower speeds.
These trans are non-electronic so there is no computer control of shift points like the later trans.
Wont give you any more gears!

I don't think it's limited to MAM. All the Corvette vendors sell some items that don't do a whole bunch for you:
airfoils
cut lids
mufflers
throttle position devices
coolant bypass
160deg 'stats
"cold air" intakes
and the list goes on....
As long as we keep buying this junk, they'll be happy to keep selling it to us.
Waaa, i was hoping it would work, oh well. Have people had problems with mid america?
Not so much MidAmerica or Ecklers particularly, but the whole vette-oriented scene in general. Most of what they advertise is complete crap.
Little odds & ends they sell are nice but if its a performance part its usually worthless, and in the case of mufflers you can nearly always find them cheaper somewhere else.
Replacement parts, I never buy from them unless theyre the only one who has it.
Hmmmm, that means i'm the one their making this stuff for. After ordering the 185 temp sender and harness, i got to wondering if thats going to be to low to allow converter lock up, or does an 86 lock up by mph?..... guys these questions didn't exist the last time i played with street/performance cars....so much to learn, but having fun doing so!...joe
