I am still trying to run down a leak. I replaced the power steering pump as it looked like the leak was coming from there. I am still leaking power steering fluid.
Is the only thing left that could be leaking is the 2 hoses and the fluid tank?
If I replaced them, shouldn't this stop the leak or is there something else that I should be looking at?
Thanks!
I would clean the area spotless then check for leaks while it's running. On ramps would be best so you can get a good look. My system was leaking at the pinion valve on the rack. Did you replace the "O" rings when you did the pump
Yes the O rings were replaced. I had the car up on a ramp, and I remove one of the braces to see better. I couldn't see anything leaking.
So, what and where is the pinion valve?
Thanks
I chased a high pressure hose crack that I just couldn't see with the naked eye for a couple of weeks - finally gave up and replaced it with the DRM stainless steel line - problem solved. Now if we're talking about the PS groan on a cold engine....that's another story.
I had a power steering leak and it turned out being the hose, but I my case it was not tight. If I recall correctly, its pretty tight under the car. I had to position myself at the right angle in order to tighten the hose.
I'm sure you can clean the area good and then search for the leak.
Good luck.
