Saturday, the alternator housing on my AC/Delco broke, which I figure may be due to my BPP air pump eliminator. Less than 2k mi. with eliminator, 9k on alternator. Anyone else have this problem?
It happens to people who use headers more often, because some headers (hooker in particular) delete the rear alternator support. The twist of the engine will eventually crack the alternator from the lack of support.
Having the AIR eliminated only exacerbates the problem because the stock bracket is helpful in support of the alternator as well.
All I can tell you is to buy a new alternator and think about fabbing up a better support. Nobody makes one for us yet.
I was leery when I installed it, noticed the lack of support, but had never read anything negative about them. When used ones come up for sale, they disappear like hotcakes. BTW, new alternator with with "lifetime" warranty installed.

Exactly why I'm developing one myself...I'm in the prototype phase right now, but hope to have them in production in the next 6 months.
