Delete A/C Pulley...86 Vette
I mentioned in an earlier post that my air conditioning hasn't worked in years. (There's a slow freon leak somewhere...I just don't fool with it anymore). I'm the origianl owner.
I'm wondering if any of the forum members have used a delete pulley to eliminate their air conditioner entirely?
Are there any benefits to removing any and all of the parts pertaining to the A/C?
I believe the delete pulley costs about $70.
Is this mod worth the money?

The F-body A/c delete pulley does not work on the Vette setup.
There was a recent post by someone changed the belt route and used a smaller belt bypassing the A/c altogether while using only stock parts.
Will post link when I get home

This is on my 85, and perfect fit. Bolt in and use same belt. Randy

I took anything to do with ac out of the car. I even chopped the ac housing off flat, on the firewall. I can now install headers with the starter and plugs in place.

If the a/c is empty, the low pressure switch prevents the compressor clutch from engaging, making the compressor pulley nothing more than an idler anyway. It is not drawing any more power than would an idler pulley because in effect that's all it is when the compressor is disengaged.
If you want to ENSURE that the compressor does not engage, simply disconnect the compressor clutch connector and save yourself $70 and some work.
Good luck,
