Default 1st Trip to the Dyno - Comments?

Finally dyno'd the 86 after top end build & exhaust;

TPIS/AFR Heads (190 casting, 54cc, 272 CFM), TPIS 700-135 cam (224/224, .495/.495), TPIS Level V chip, 1.52 Pro Magnums, TPIS Big Mouth Manifold, AS&M LT runners, ported plenum, TPIS LT headers, Random Tech high flow cat, Flowmaster Force II cat back, BBK 52mm, K&N with open box. The bottom end is stock.

Mustang dyno in Slat Lake City (El. 4,500 ft)
Max HP 265.2 @ 4500 RPM
Max Torque 342.1 @ 3700 RPM

A/F maybe a bit rich at 12.6 - 12.9 but indicates stock injectors or OK, right?

How much HP have I gained from the 235 HP stock given the drive train loss and the elevation here in SLC? Isn't the Mustang a bit on the conservative side?

i am no expert, but lets say the mustang is 10% down on power then a dynojet, that 265rwhp/342rwtq would be more like 294rwhp/380rwtq.

so lets say teh 4+3 loses 15% thru the drivetrain, that would equal around.....345chp/445tq at the flywheel. since stock is around 230/330, i would say u got some good gains.

115/115 at the crank would be a rough estimate for those mods!

re- i dont think the 4500 elevation is your friend either, so # are prob a tad higher then that. but it would of been a good idea for you to dyno it, before and after. then i wouldnt have to assume mustang dyno/drivetrain loss (that was "neat" a forum member saying that).

The dyno numbers should be corrected for altitude already.

Your intake is killing you, I'd bet to the tune of 30-40 hp. You need at least a SR with your base.

You're probably right. That's next on my list.

It looks like you might be putting the old Crossfire on the trailer, er make that the Interstate, this year.

As mentioned, dyno numbers are routinely and automatically corrected to "standard" conditions, which includes altitude.

RACE ON!!!

I like the fact that you make maximum power at 4500 rpms. How's your pants??

HP Drops off just slightly betweem 4500 & 5500 RPM. Am I running out of air at 4500 RPM?

Absolutely. That intake cannot breathe above 4700ish. Get a intake that can breathe and your curve will just keep climbing above the 4700 wall.
