This is to update a post from a couple of weeks ago. Had a no start on my 86 coupe after I removed the inst cluster for repair. Turned out to be fouled plugs! Like any good troubleshooting, we have to figure out what it "is not" first. We all determined pretty quick it was'nt the cluster's fault, and I got some great tips from the group on what I should look for. Sometimes gearheads like me can be their own worst enemy and I really expected the worst. Sometimes its just plain back to basics.
Next topic. This is a low budget fun project for me. 86 model, runs & drives great, but with a salvage title. Also has 91-96 body parts on it. I figured what the heck, the value is in the dumper anyway so I painted it 93 anniversary ruby red (hey, I like the color). Now, should I really bastardize it and buy the 40 anniversary emblems for it? If so, what makes the outside appearance a 40th anniv car? The interior, by the way will never be a right match. I understand 40th anniv ruby red cars had red interiors. I did buy new saddle tan seat covers and carpet. Did'nt want the expense of total interior change. So that's it. Bring it on!
Don't try to make it what it is not. You'll lose some credibility with some people. On the other hand...............it is your car, and why not bastardize all the way? I wouldn't do it. My .02
