I am looking at purchasing the new MSD opotispark. I have recently purchased ported heads and intake with a cam. I figured while I was replacing that I could get the new opti from MSD. What are the opinions on this? Also what about the LTCC it just doesnt appeal to me for some reason...
As far as I know, the MSD Opti is not yet available, but check on this, as the situation may have changed.
I'm more impressed with the DelTeq than the LTCC.
I installed a DynaSpark in my '94 last year, and am very happy with it (but if I owned a '95 or '96 with the second-gen Opti, I'd have probably gone with an OEM replacement unit).
If the Opti in yours has seen many miles, I'd swap it out, too, since you'll have it removed anyway.
I just did an OEM replacement on my 96, and went with a Meziere HD electric water pump (no more weeping on the opti). I found this option to be much more financially advantageous than going with the $600 Dynaspark and OEM water pump.

This should be true for the '95 - '96 Corvettes, which use the second-generation Opti. The financials don't stack up the same with the '92 - '94 Corvettes as the first-gen OEM Opti costs considerably more than the second-gen OEM part.
For a first-gen application, I like the DynaSpark. For a second-gen application, I think I'd go with an OEM Opti, and add a layer of RTV over all the seams for good measure.
With my modifications the stock opti wants to crap out after 5500 or so. I am just looking at that perspective... Summit is supposed to be moving the MSD unit on the first of january.
If you are able to get your hands on the MSD Opti, please post a report on your observations about the unit. I know many of us are very eager to hear some feedback from users.
The stock rotor that's used in both the OEM Optis and the DynaSpark often has trouble surviving at high revs, so depending upon how high you plan to rev yours, the MSD may turn out to be a better choice. Or perhaps the DelTeq, instead.
From reading the description on their website I think the MSD Opti is a nice improvement over the OEM one. This is especially true for the 92-94 cars. It has better seals, a bigger and better bearing and a better cap and rotor. Plus the ability to adjust your timing. For less than $500 it's a good buy. Unfortunately, just like with their cap and rotor kit MSD will probably take forever to bring it to market.
