That depends in how bad the aftermarket heads you are referring to are. The 113 heads can be improved considerably. They cannot be opened to 227 cc intake ports and they can't be converted to be 18° heads. The answer to your question is Yes, they can. And No, they can't.

There are flow numbers on my site if you want to look at them, but no, they do not outflow the AFR 195. (190 is no longer made by AFR)

Flow numbers are way over rated although important in different applications & for measuring improvement. Your 113's will give you very good power. Bigger is not always better especially on a street machine.
Let me know if I can be of service.

TPIS in collaboration with AFR offers 187cc sets for L98 and LT1.
with a cam, and complete intake changeout and LT headers on a 350/355cid, these work out great. i wouldn't go larger intake runners than 190cc on a stock block, but thats my semi-informed opinion. as was stated earlier, AFR doesn't offer 190cc anymore (i think they stopped about 2 years ago), you might might a good set used though. otherwise, check into TPIS/AFR at the TPIS site, and give them a call.

i would sell your 113's to recoup some cost. asking price for a pair in very decent shape in the $400-$500 range.

Less than it would cost to port your heads to anywhere near as good. Porting is nearly 100% labor, and time is money. Even if your heads CAN be ported to meet or exceed the AFR 195 heads, doesn't mean it will cost any less than buying the heads.

That is true, their website states that it is 187 but I bought some through them awhile back and they are saying that AFR is making those heads from the 190 casting. Not cheap though!!

I don't know about used but I am sure you have seen new AFR 's at 1800.+ complete
If flatline already has ported 113's set-up on it, I am not sure I understand why you want to change or spend extra. What was his set-up with the 113's, it is proabaly a good working set-up already/wcam etc..

I kind of skimmed over these posts, but what cam are you running, and are you running headers/upgraded exhaust?

it has a zz9 cam and i will be running hooker ceramic super comps back to 2 big bullets. pipes will be at least 2.5", maybe even 3. havent decided on which mufflers yet, but 40 series are always good. unless anybody else has another suggestion. TIA

If you are running duals I'd go 2.5", no bigger.
Have you considered the AFR 180 head? They will keep up with a SR and make killer low/mid-lift numbers. About $1300 from Jegs (or was it summit?). Your car would make some sick torque for a 350. With that cam I dont see where it could make full use of the 195 head.
Of course, a well ported 113 head would run very strong also. It wont keep up with the AFR but is still a decent street head. Problem is by the time you've paid for a quality valve job, bigger valves installed and a full port job you've spent almost the same money as the AFR. Dart makes a nice 180 head, I belive Brodix does too.

im not worried about max hp (as HP is what you buy and TQ is what you drive). i was just wondering whether the ported heads on it would keep up with the engine. thanks for the advice on pipe diameter. is that to keep backpressure? what kind of mufflers should i run? who has what and how do they sound?

I don't have any flow numbers but here are some results for my work w/ a dremel & die grinder to my 113 heads. I only did minor clean up & port match on the intake side, exhaust I only took off casting marks & then polished them out. Ignore the flywheel on the printout, it is rear wheel readings...

This is correct, having heads that flow say... a zillon cfm is great on paper...but if they only do it at 8000 rpm, and you drive at 5500 max, you have wasted your time and money. It's the same with runner size, bigger isn't always better, remember it's just an air pump, everything needs to be matched together to get the best results for your money.
