Cold auto trans slams into D

Cold auto trans slams into D
I let the car (89 automatic) warm up for 10 min. back out the drive put her into D and wham she slams in. I just put new fluid and filter in. She only does this cold. I used the SEARCH could not find info. I do not feel any shifting problems other than the D-slam. The car has 96,000 miles,I checked for vacum leaks with propane none noticed. Any thoughts. It's normal. Even after I had mine rebuilt when it failed a few years ago, the owner of the shop told me that it's normal. The higher your idle (like when it's cold) the harder it will do it. It's not too bad at about 700-800 RPM.

I will let the car idle down better because that slam is annoying! Glad to hear that it is not symtoms of a failing transmission. This board and members are a great resource I am glad to be part of it! Thanks Pete
