Default injector/carb cleaner spray into tb?

greetings all,
quick question; in the days of carburation, we used to spray carb cleaner into the "throat" of the carb with and w/o the engine running which usually made a difference as to how the car ran.

while i have no real problems with my 88, could a carb/tbs injector spray be sprayed into the "throat" of the tb while running and would it have any effect? i say little no none, a friend of mine says it would.

granted, the maf would be removed so, this is not an issue that needs to be addressed here. thanks.

I have always been afraid to spray it in because of the o2 sensor. They are pretty sensitive.

You would be better off to pull the TB and fully clean it including the IAC bore and port. Once off you can spray some on a rag and clean the entrance of the plenum aswell.

I recall some people here were spraying in a "top end cleaner" into the TB and didnt have any issues with anything.

I dont know exactly what product it was though.

Use TB cleaner only.Carb leaner is for carbs.I sprayed the heck out of mine ,scrubbed the plate down Withg a toothbrush and hosed it and the IAC hole to death while running the engine. It was a lot easier than pulling the TB and solved my idle trouble.Of course it will run crappy while doing it as you are introducing a foriegn chemical into the system.Same as it ever was just kick up the throttle to keep it running.

MOC Throttle-body & Air-intake Cleaner This is what they use in the Chevy service dept. I use it and it cleans the entire top end. I had a sticky flapper in the throttle-body, from using a K&N air filter, and this stuff cleaned it out and cancelled the stickiness. The bottle says it will not affect the O2 sensors.

thanks for the reply. i have an off idle stumble on acelleration that i can live with but, would be nice if i can "cure it". where is the product you mentioned purchased and how expensive?

plugs ok, timing is dead on, all filters new and or clean, wires ok, fuel pressure steady and ok, no detectable vacuum leaks, no cross-arching noticed, cap and rotor all ok.

My son works at the Chevy place and he gets it. The name of the company is MOC Products Co, Inc, and their phone # is 818-896-2258, it's in CA. I'd look in the parts stores first or maybe do a search for the company. It's that good.
