Default Transmission Fluid with Gray Streaks?
I had a new automatic transmission put in about 50k miles ago.. I noticed some reddish fluid under the car yesterday so checked the tranny fluid. Its still red/pink but when I wipe it on a rag it leaves gray streaks.. does it every time... Is this normal wear from the gears or am I looking at a new transmission soon?

The grey is finely divided metal and transmissions are not supposed to grind up metal. It is time to take a look at the insides of your transmission!

I would have it completely flushed and a new filter installed. How many miles are on the car? you might be able to save her. Pipe

They gray is minor residual clutch and band lining that is too fine for the filter to catch. It is normal.

Every dip stick I've ever swiped left a grey line from the edge of stick. I guess I hold it to tight.
