Default speedway corvettes turbo headers??

Grettings everyone,
This is my first post in this forum but I am always in aww at everyones technical knowledge, persistance, and ingenuity. I have been researching about turbo setups for a little while now and came across www.speedwaycorvettes.com and there 8 second, stock hood, IRS'd, cars. I was just wondering if anyone has used them or knew how well they worked.
Thanks in advance,

Michael

that is one bad *** turbo C4. But damn no information on the car what so ever. Damn they don't even let you paste the pictures of their cars. Want to see the danm engine compartment. But there nothing much to see on one picture look like a C4 engine compartment.

I saw there ad in the back of one of my corvette fever mags and checked out there stuff. The headers look really simple but do you think that the boost response and lag may be affected due to the long tubing length? what size turbo and boost do you think was necassary to run those times? Does anyone know more info?
Bruce- I don't blame him. I think a lot of people would run for cover too if they saw that thing coming!

check here and some of the links posted on this thread.

as far as the turbo being placed further away, I am becomeing a believer they work. there is a C5 in the forced induction page there with a rear mount who ran a 9.3 at 149.

I actually call them today. They are about 1/2 hrs out side Toronto Canada area. That is about 3 hrs driving for me to get there. Maybe I should have them tune my car with DFI stuffs. Obviously they knows how to tune turbo cars with DFI stuffs. All their turbo cars got a DFI box in the engine bay that I saw.

I was trying to ask about the cost to build that header but I was not able to get to their tec/engineer because the girl answer the phone told me he is busy at the movement but want to take the message. I told her I will call back later.

Bruce,
It's later! Just Kidding but let me know what they got to say about those headers. I wonder if they have a in-house dyno to tune these cars. Someone in the thread that bill linked said it was a 406 with a T-100 turbo and a 5'' downpipe! I would really like to know more about this motor and what was needed to get this thing to hold together for this long!
Bill, I also found this; ststurbo.com has a gto that has run 9.89@ 140 with there rear mount turbo. They have some nice videos on there too.
Oh and it looks like the GTO hit the wall at the end of the launch video!! Too much car for em i guess.
Michael

Hey guys, it's Bill from Speedway Corvettes, a friend informed me about this thread.

Just wanted to give you some information on the turbo C4, which you guys are talking about. The motor was a dart iron eagle block which had a 375 inch stroke and a 5.7 Rod and a set of custom JE Pistons. The heads were GM phase 6 heads that were fully ported it had a solid roller camshaft which was 595 lift and 248 @50 on a 114 lobe separation. It had 1 3/4 stainless steel headers which I made and 2 1/2 inch primary tubes going in to the turbo, the turbo was 100mil turbonetics with 2 turbonetics race gates so we can bleed down the boost to 5 lbs on the street. It had a 4 inch down pipe coming off the exhaust housing off the turbo I used a 2025 weldon fuel pump and 96 lbs injectors with a fast electronics, it also had a 4 1/2 inch thick inner cooler air to air that was bought at spearco, also the transmission was a TH 400 with a Niel chance torque converter 3500 stall. We had a stock IRS suspension with polyurethane bushings in the rear and a Dana 44 rear end. The car was built for a customer and friend named Peter.

We don't know exactly how much horsepower it really had we estimated roughly around 1800 HP. We took the car to a chassy dyno here in Canada and pegged the dyno at 1200 RWHP. So true numbers, we will never know. It had an innovative boost controller which we set on the street at 10 lbs. So the owner Peter could drive the car on the street. At the track we set the boost controller 1st gear 8 lbs, 2nd gear 15 lbs. and 3rd gear at 25 lbs. The motor ran Sunoco 94 pump gas on the street and at the track we used C16 to compensate the higher boost levels, the motor was 8 1/2 to 1 compression and worked very well on the street as well at the track. Any more questions feel free to post more questions or email me.

I guess I will go first, how much are the turbo headers?
does this include the primaries and down pipe?

how did you route that 4" downpipe out of there?

what intake manifold is on the yellow car?

thanks

First I'd like to thank you for the information about the car.
I would also like to know about the headers and exhaust cost, etc. At about what RPM does the T-100 turbo start to make boost? What would you say the motor was capable of revving too? I'd like to build a very similar combination with a zf-6 and run hopefully about mid 9's. I was thinking something along the lines of a 406 or bigger. The turbo would be probably a little smaller than the T-100 just for drivabilities sake. Thank you again for the information, Michael
