Default How to gut a cat

That is the question. I'm installing my headers next week and I might as well gut the cats while I'm at it. How do I do it? I don't want to leave a bunch of loose junk in there to get stuck in my mufflers later. Also, recently I saw the modules for sale that hook up to the O2 sensors and fools the ECM. If anyone has the address for the guy that makes these I would appreciate it. I'm trying to get all this done before I head to BG at the end of the month.

Get a large board, several nails, & a good sharp knife. Put a nail through each paw into the board, wait you mean the cat on the car..........my bad!

Get a pipe or steel rod & drive it up into the cat matrix to break it up & pour it out.

I used a 1/2" iron pipe with a hammer to break the guts of the cat apart. :smash: It will come out fairly easily in about a millione pieces.

Keep a Shop Vac handy to suck out the smaller debris. Be patient and take your time. It'll all come out. Of you're doing it with the cats still on the car, fire it up when you have it completely gutted to blow out the remaining small pieces. It should sound great, but you'll have to get used to that hollow cat sound. Good Luck!

I cut mine open with a torch and gutted them and welded them back together.

TNT I had to heat all of my bolts with a torch to break them loose.
