Default LTPWS programing

I purchased a Helms service manual and am trying to reprogram my LTPWS. The manual says to use the tech 1 but I have no idea what a tech 1 is.
Can any one help please
Thanks
Mike

I assume you are trying to remove stored codes from the LTPWS. I don't know about the 96, but for 95 you can ground pins 5 to 6 at the DLC, turn ignition "on", donot start, & ground the terminals 3 times within 10 secs to remove stored codes. What does the your manual say re; grounding of pins?

That's what the book says! I didn't understand about the grounding of the 2 terminals! I thought I needed the tech 1. If I understand it, the tech 1 is a computer that hooks in to the DLC but is not necessary for this operation.
So, if I clear the codes will it reprogram it self or should I take it to the dealer?
Thanks

The only reason for clearing the code (s) is so you will not retain it in the system if you have a future problem, which could cause some confusion.

Insert a paper clip or wire into term #5, Turn on the ignition, donot start & contact term #6 three times within 10 secs.

Your manual shud tell how to confirm the clearing.

Nothing to reset. After you drive for a while & the wheel sensors report you shud be ok.

What codes were set? Just curious.

The Tech1 and Tech2 are service scanners used by dealerships, they can read/clear codes, view data, and in some cases modify data. It shoulds like you need to take the car to a dealership to have them reprogram the LTPWS...this has nothing to do with pulling codes.

thanks so much for the info!
When I purchased the car the fellow told me that one of the wheel sensors was replaced and needed to go into the dealer to reset the codes.
When I 1st start the car the LTPWS light isn't on but once I drive it a couple of miles it comes on.
I've only owned the car for about a month. I like to do my own work but will take it to the dealer when necessary.
Thanks again
Mike
