Default wheel widening

wheres the best place to have this done? also, how much wider would you have to go to get a 335 tire on a 11inch wheel? the difference is 20mm on tire size. i dont know if it would be beneficial to widen the rim more than that. does it hurt the performance of a tire if you have to strech it a little bit to fit a rim? i know it hurts performance if you try to put to big of a tire on a small rim because it bows out and you ar really only making contact with the innermost middle part of the tire so there not as big of a contact patch. does it hurt it the other way around if the wheel is almost a little to WIDE for the tire and you have to strech the tire a bit to make it fit? will that give you greater contact patch and therefor greater performance? if not then what is the best width for a rim to be fitted with a 335 tire? 12 inches wide exactly? how wide of wheel and tires have you guys put on ur car?

Been there, done that ... would never get wheels widened again. where should I start? Rim extensions not running true (not lined up perfectly before welding). Repaint does not match existing rims well enough, repaint quality not up to car enthusiast quality. . .

Do it right, buy a set of custom wheels made to your specs. Such as CCW.

i would like 12 inch Amold style wheel made of polished aluminum. would CCw do something like that? who widened ur wheels. seems like there is quite a few ppl using widened wheels on different sports car so i would think some people arent having problems with them. what size rim and tire were u running on exactly what kind of vehicle?

anybody else?

Yes!
Here's my 12in wide CCW's with 335's on all 4.

They're nice rims, forged, not cast. This is my racing setup, so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have a failure at speed.

I'm not sure of the offset, you'd have to contact CCW as th cars is currently in storage on the other side of the country

The rears rub a little, the inner liner, and they stick out just a tad.

The front's only rub when I'm on the locks.

It's an extremme setup for racing.
If you want 335's out back on a daily driver, you'd want at least the GS flares. I've seen 335's on an 11in rim, but it does quite fit right. Of course I've also seen 315's on a 9.5in rim.

Were are you looking for the performance?
Drag, track, autocross?
What kind of tires are you using?

A street tire will never give the performance of a racing tire.

as for the tire i would probably use michelin pilot sports. this wont be for a while after i bore and stroke my motor. they would obviously just be street tires for driving around town on. i plan to eventually SC a 396 stroker so i would have quite a bit of power out back so im just doing my homework in advance for options. thanks for your input
