Yes you can I just did it. You have to loosen the motor mounts and jack the motor up about 3/4" to clear the crossmember.

Along with pulling the radiator and creatively positioning the condenser.

i figured that much but if you know what it takes to pull the engine you know that its 1000 times easier to not pull the engine.

It's still not an easy job with the engine in the car. Maybe a bit easier than pulling the engine. Alot of bending over is involved in the swap.

I originally pulled my engine for a bearing/ring freshening plus the LT1 to LT4/Hotcam conversion. Recently, I tore down the engine (in car) to the shortblock for a Lloyd Elliott LE2 head/cam upgrade (thinking that it'd be less work). That'll be the last time I do that.
Pulling the engine takes the same amount of time and lessens the frustration (massively more productive space for reassembly = less bending and having to worm your appendages into tough spots) provided you have the equipment (lift, stand, etc.).
Both strategies depend on your experience and technique. From now on, I'll be pulling the engine for any major work.

Quite true. It's not too bad if you make sure you have clearance on the rear of the engine for the necessary tilt (oil pressure sensor on '96).
You'll also need plenty of extensions and a 14mm universal socket (this has the socket combined with the uni) for the top bolts.
After the first time it's cake.

6 hours and almost done, I'm impressed.
My first cam swap must have taken at least 20 hours, and the second around 12.
