Default front sway bar diameter

Happy New Year out there.
My 1987 has suspension code Z52. I want to replace the front suspension bushings, as my baby has 95k and is 19 years young. I don't race or autocross. How can I determine what the front sway bar diameter ? Any comments from which reputable company I should purchase a replacement kit for all front suspension components?

Thanks,
Paul R.

Simply place the end of an adjustable wrench on the sway bar and tighten. Right by the shock on the fat part is good. Then slide the wrench off without moving the adjuster and measure the jaw opening with a tape measure. That will give you your diameter.

Should be a 30mm. But measure it to be sure. Sway bar bushings and endlinks are sold seperately from the bushing kit. If you're replacing balljoints and tie rod ends, buy Moog parts from rockauto.com. Don't buy any of the kits from the ecklers catalog, it's all chinese garbage.

As for bushings, I can't give a recommendation there.

This should help, too.

I would recommend polyurethane busings for both the front and rear sway bars and end links but for street use, go with factory-style bushings everywhere else. Poly bushings in the suspension components will stiffen the rid up a bit and may even squeak after awhile.

I would go with factory Bilsteins to get the original ride quality back. Van Steel (a Forum Supporting Vendor) has some decent prices for new Bilsteins. Also check with them on suspension bushings. Also try Vette Brakes for components.

I agree with the use of Moog suspension components. You should be able to find them at NAPA either in stores or their website.

And that's without going to another web site. Come on NC Kid, keep it on the CF. We don't need no stinkin links.

I have an 88 z52 and it came with a 26mm tubular front and 22mm solid rear, should be the same as yours.

Correct for `88, not for `87.

I picked up a set of new bars for my 93: (thanks to C5 Jimmy)
Front is 30mm, solid. Rear is 26mm, solid. Comes with Energy Suspension Front/Rear polyurethane stabilizer bar bushing packages

Can I reuse my endlinks or should I replace them?

Why is it every time someone asks a question, someone else always posts a link to another web site? If you don't know the answer, then STFU. What's the point of the CF if all we are going to do is direct people away from here to other sites???

...Says the guy whos answer of 30mm solid & 26mm solid is only correct for a `91 Z07. The question was about a `87 Z52.
