Default air conditioner question on 87 coupe

i would like to replace my low pressure cycling switch, located in the return line
from the evaporator. is there a schrader valve behind it ? if i unscrew it
will this open the line and blow out all the freon. it is keeping the compressor
running all the time and and low pressure line sits at 20 psi. high side 225
thanks for your assistance

sorry, this isn't what you want to hear .......... yes, you'll blow the charge !! carefull, vision protection needed working on a/c --- i'll look at my car to see if there are service valves, that way you can pump the charge into the compressor/ reciever ...... but, it does'nt sound like you'll be comfortable doing this ....... hey, if you've still got r-12, this is a good time to retrofit the refrigeration ... the current price on r-12 will stun you !
