Default ECM part # location

Okay, I have a '90 so that should be either the 1227727 or the updated 16198260. That number is NOT on the prom itself. I have that here in my hand as a Formato is in there now. Only stickers say:

Delco ARFP 7185

Delco R665

I think I saw a sticker inside the "BOX" last time I had the prom out.

Also, places that have stock bin files (like Moates and another place I saw last night) have several files in the bin area:

5F 3.1 V6 folder, I assume is for a V6 engine

8F folder must be for me but.... in that folder will be the following several files:

89GPT.txt - my guess is for 89 year cars but a txt file??

90GPT.bin - looks like this could be it

AUAF 8F.bin - so what the hell is this for???

Also, anyone know what the "stock" file size would be for mine. This will help me know I have a complete file & also know the offset for burning to a 512 chip.

Thanks!

Search ebay for your ECM part number to see an ECM which shows a sticker on the case...that sticker is the location of the part number.

Not sure what else you are looking for. The ARFP on the MEMCAL you listed is the broadcast code. Google that and Craig Moate's site will come up with that BIN available.

As far as what all the other ones are for, I dunno. Since there are so many BINs out there, it is jsut easier to search for the right one and verify that it is what you are looking for than searching at all of them one by one and trying to figure out what each one is for.

AUAF is a 1989 bin for a 3.1L
The 89 & 90 GTP files are for a Pontiac Grand Prix..GTP
Some possible .bins for your year are:
ANHW..Auto trans 2.73 rear
ANHT...Auto trans 3.07 rear
ANHU...Auto trans 2.59 rear
ARFP...Auto trans 2.59 rear

The bin size is 32k.
The ECM number is in a white tag on the ECM (should be there anyway) and will say: GM service number...01227727 (may have the updated number if the ECM was changed.)
To find out what a prom's BCC is for look here http://www.efitune.com/broadcast_codes/

Thanks for the reponses.

The .bin I would need is for Manual Trans 3.33 gears.

That page is showing for an auto trans?? But I'm still looking.

Thanks!
