Default TRW vs MOOG suspension components

Sorry Mr. Mojo for the "vs" thread but surely this one won't start a fight!

A friend of mine, who is SUPPOSED to join this forum tonight but probably wont, is looking to rebuild his suspension sooner or later. He knows that moog is supposed to be the best out there but he has a friend who can get him a killer deal on TRW stuff.

Any thoughts? Is moog really THAT much better to warrant a significant extra cost?

It depends on if he can afford the Moog's, and how long, how many miles he is going to have the car -if it justifies the $$

Any idea on the estimated life span of each? What makes moog so much better? Do they just not wear out, do others break?

I guess what I'm getting at is are we talking about 100k mile parts vs 110k mile parts or is it 10k mile parts vs 100k mile parts?

From my own experience, moog makes some good stuff. However, cant give you the breakdown on life or longevity.I didnt keep my cars that long to see if it would last a long time.My cars felt great after doing a stock rebuild with moog parts to fix the worn front ends out and etc.

I dont think you can really go wrong with each, though, but cant comment on TRW's parts. That being said,a shop I worked in years ago,our boss would only use moog suspension parts on any car we fixed. For one, they always fit right out of the box and never had to replace any under warranty,as compared to the other stuff he tried before.

Btw,is moog only available at your local napa store? If so,shop online and see if theres a better deal somewhere.

As Bill said, in the business it's always been Moog and everything else. This is what I always relate when this question comes up. I assume this is still valid but I can't say for sure anymore. Nascar stock cars have always had suspensions based on production designs. For years and years it was based on the '65 Ford front clip, later on switching to the front steer GM design in the late 80s. They always used Moog stock replacement ball joints, always.

Moog is the racers choice, if the car is a DD and might see an occasional autoX or road race, drag - its the owners choice

Moog is always Moog, the others might go through the lowest bidder to make their parts -so you or I are potential victims of someone elses experience a year ago and today XYZ is getting supplied by someone else and we have a bad experience - no different the the wheel bearing stories or ujoints.

On the opposite side of that - I installed brute force ujoints and was told they were **** - I have over 60 passes on them no problems yet.
