Default Question about 88 A/C Auto climate control

Ok, so it seems to be ok on temperature, but it's where it directs air that's messed up. The programmer seems to have a good vacuum supply with no leaks, and I repaired the head so the keys all work, and the modes all switch on the control head. Fan speed is ok too. I had the upper dash pad off, and it's not directing vacuum to the defroster valve when it's supposed to.
Is the programmer repairable somehow? If someone has rigged this thing to work again I'd like to know. It seems like it would get a lot of heat on the firewlll there and go bad easily.

Theres a plastic check valve at the vacuum tubes at the back of the engine near the distributor on drivers side. That line also goes into the wireharness thru the firewall.Check the valve for a broken connection. It looks like a cone shaped plastic piece the size of a quarter or so.

Thats one place to start first, may not be whats wrong with it.
