Default instrument panel lens

Can someone tell me if you can replace the lens for the intstrument panel easily without removing the dash or a lot of stuff on a '91? TIA

Default No Problem

I Own a 1992 with the same dash and removing and replacing the dash lens is quite easy. I was able to remove mine without lowering the steering column although removing the two column bolts and lowering it gives you more room but getting to them required me to remove the panel under the dash and I didnt want to be bothered.
I removed mine by tilting the wheel max down, screwing out the wheel tilt lever, removing the two screws at the bottom of the dash ( on the flat part) and the two above(on the curved part), I them remover the outer black bezel (this requires a bit of jockeying but it will come out without breaking). Once the black bezel is off you can see the six torx screws that hold on the lens, remove these and take out the lens and put in the new one.
Instead of buying a new lens I used an electric buffing wheel and red buffing compound and buffed mine back to a new appearance in about 45 minutes and reused it, it now looks like I put in a new one and makes a tremendous difference now that the guages dont have that cloudy look.
Good luck

Does this screw out by hand or do you use pliers to get it started? thanks

And I thought I was the only one **** enough to do this? Glad someone else thought of it as well. The new clear plastic (if you can find one) is about $70.00. Well worth the time and trouble...

I believe you'll need a stubby phillips for the black bezal screws. They're standard trim screws.

Default Tilt lever

On mine the tilt lever just screwed out by hand but there is a flat part closed to the steering column that you can use a 1/4 inch wrench on if yours wont come by hand.
EdSalinas I dont think youre **** at all, I always figure these things on the financial return to me. New lens plus shipping was closer to $100.00 saved so I figured one hour work, I just paid myself $100.00 per hour for time that I probably would have spent watching CNN if I had not been working at the car. Not bad pay for a Sunday morning cup of coffee and I always like it better when I do something myself.
