The interior lights on my dad's 92 vert stay on all the time, and he has had to pull the fuse. I checked the fuses under the pass side, because one of those blew before and made them stay on, bnut they are fine. Any other ideas? Timer maybe?
There is supposed to be a 15 minute timer if you leave the door open. Does it last more than 15 minutes? I've seen bad door switches cause the car to think that the door is open all the time.
I had the same problem. I glued a dime on the door post where the button on the door is supposed to hit. It was enough of a shim to allow the switch to break the circuit.
It could be the hatch. Try each sw individually to find the offender.
Mine was caused by the hatch switch. There is a flat extension on top of the actuator under the plastic cover that can snap.I put a piece of rubber hose on the windows stud to solve it.
Does the door ajar light also stay on and the interior lights do not go out when you turn on the ignition key and start car?
If lights go out after 15 minutes, this is either a door ajar switch that the plunger tip has set in toofar ( can happen from closing the door on a seatbelt). a broken plastic bump stop on the door frame, the hatch ajar switch or the black wire from the door ajar switch to the CCM shorting to ground.
This can be fixed as explained by others or you can grab the little mub on the plunger and pull it back out some then close the door to let it reset itself to the right hight or if it is too slack for this after you pull it out you can slip a short (about 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch) piece of vacium tubing over the nub to hold it out. Dont go too long or you can break the switch body.
If lights do not go out after 15 minutes this is usually a bad door key switch sending a ground to the CCM. Try turning the key in the door lock a few times to see if this cures the problem.
If neither of these work I will send you the diognestic steps to check both the door key switch and the ground wires fron the door ajar switch to the CCM.
The problem could also be a bad CCM but this can only be diognosed by going through the diognostic steps from the manual that I will send you.
Good luck

Reason: Left out hatch ajar switch
Check if the door key was used in one of the door locks, if the key wasn't turned straight up the interior lights will stay on. Been there, done it. Good luck, Robert
